VIP Customer Groups and Discount Codes for Nail Salons

How to reward regulars with customer groups, run campaign codes without losing margin, and keep discounts under control in a nail salon.

In short

  • Customer groups (VIP, brides, loyal regulars) let you treat segments differently: a standing discount for VIPs, a bridal offer for brides, a win-back message for clients who have not visited in a while.
  • Campaign codes (for example SUMMER20) are for acquisition and slow periods. Give them an end date, a usage limit and, if needed, a service restriction.
  • Apply one discount per booking, the best one available, and keep group discounts for clients whose identity you know.

Loyalty in a nail salon is about frequency

A nail client who comes back every three weeks is worth far more than one who books twice a year. Loyalty tools should push people from the second group into the first, and thank the first group so they stay.

The mistake many salons make is discounting everyone the same way. Blanket discounts train clients to wait for a promotion and give money away to people who would have booked anyway. Segmenting fixes that.

Build customer groups that mean something

A group is just a label with a purpose. Start with three or four:

  • VIP: your top clients by frequency or spend. Reward with a small standing discount or priority booking.
  • Brides and events: clients with a date coming up. Good fit for packages and trial appointments.
  • Loyal regulars: clients who have been coming for more than a year. A thank-you, not necessarily a discount.
  • At risk: clients who used to come every few weeks and have not booked in two months. A reason to reach out.

In CutieCure Salon you create groups with a name and a color, add clients one by one or several at once from the customer list, and filter the list by group whenever you need it.

Group discounts: automatic, but only for known clients

A group discount applies on its own when a client in that group books, so your team does not have to remember who gets what. Typical examples are 10% for VIPs on all services, or a fixed amount off the bridal package for clients in the brides group.

Why identity matters

An automatic discount must be tied to a client you can recognise. When staff create the booking, or when the client books from her own account in an app, you know who she is. On an anonymous booking page, a phone number typed into a form is not proof, so a stranger could type your VIP client's number and take her discount.

That is why CutieCure Salon applies group discounts to bookings made by your team and in the CutieCure Book app, and not to guest bookings on the public booking link or website widget. For those channels, use a campaign code instead.

Campaign codes: for new clients and slow weeks

Codes are the right tool when you want to bring in new people or fill a specific gap. Give every code four limits:

  • An end date. Open-ended codes end up on coupon sites.
  • A usage limit. "First 50 bookings" creates urgency and caps the cost.
  • A service restriction when it makes sense. "100 off spa pedicure" fills pedicure slots without discounting your busiest service.
  • A clear name. SUMMER20 or PEDI100 tells your team what it is at a glance.

Clients enter the code on your booking link, website widget or app and see the new total before they confirm. If an appointment booked with a limited code is cancelled, the use goes back to the pool so the code is not burnt by cancellations.

One discount per booking

Packages, group discounts and codes can all meet in the same booking. Stacking them is how salons end up working for free. The safer rule is to apply only the single best discount. The client still gets the best deal available, and you know your worst case.

Who should be allowed to create discounts?

A 100% code with no limit, created by mistake, can empty your calendar of revenue. Keep discount creation with the owner and managers, while every staff member can still apply existing codes when booking a client. CutieCure Salon follows this split: only the owner, managers and team members with staff management permission can create or edit campaigns.

A simple loyalty plan to start this month

  1. 1Create a VIP group and add your top 20 clients.
  2. 2Give VIPs 10% off single services (packages already have their own discount).
  3. 3Create one campaign code for your slowest weekday, with an end date and a usage limit.
  4. 4Share the code on Instagram stories with your booking link.
  5. 5After four weeks, compare bookings and average ticket with the previous month.

You can do all of this in the dashboard, and read how to structure the offer itself in how to price nail service packages.

Frequently asked questions

Should VIP clients get a discount or other perks?

Either works. Many salons combine a small discount on single services with priority booking or a free add-on on birthdays.

Why does a group discount not apply on my public booking link?

Because a phone number typed on a public page does not prove who the client is. Use a campaign code for public channels and group discounts for bookings your team makes or bookings from a client account.

Can a client use a code and a package together?

The booking gets one discount, the best available. If the package saving is bigger than the code, the package price applies.

What happens to a code use when an appointment is cancelled?

The use is returned, so cancellations do not use up a limited campaign.
